The evening started with the Redhawk Boys Freshman team defeating Portland with a score of 54-34. Next up, Marshall’s JV team then easily handled the Portland JV team with a 64-17 win.
The real excitement came when Marshall’s Varsity Boys Team took Portland to the 5th overtime of the night, coming out with a 98-95 win. With 12 seconds left in the 5th OT, Marshall’s Mitch Avery made a layup off of a pass inside from Marcus Waters to put the Redhawks up 97-95. An over-and-back call, a foul, and a trip to the free throw line put Marshall up 98-95, before time ran out for the victory.
Marshall’s leading scorers were Jacob Brubaker with 34, Tyler Torrey with 26, and Forrest Jackson with 10.
The Redhawks take on Pennfield with Boys Freshman and JV at home on Thursday (12/17) and Varsity away (12/18).
