Marshall Girls Place 18th at State Finals
Led by Sophomore Maliyah Alexander-Gore who just missed out on All State status, Marshall’s Ladyhawks finished 18th in the 27 team field. In the 250 runner field in which the top 30 finishers earn All State honors, Maliyah finished 39th in an excellent time of 19:34 on a wet, sloppy MIS course. Fellow sophomore Anna Zacharski wrapped up her impressive season finishing second for the Ladyhawks in 128th place. Completing the scoring for the team were senior Ava Klein, sophomore Abbie Schoepke, and freshman Laraya Warnsley. Also competing for the Ladyhawks were senior Abby St. John and sophomore Natalia Egnatuk.
It was a really, really fun and rewarding season. Seven invitational wins and four runner-up finishes, plus a trip to the State Championship – you can’t ask for much more than that. With our top three runners (and five of top seven) returning for the next two years, the future is awfully bright. If we can get a few more intelligent and athletic girls to join our team next fall we’ll be a top ten team or better.
