The Boys Varsity Swimming and Diving Team participated in the SCC League Championships this past Friday and Saturday. The Redhawks finished in first place, 233.5 points ahead of Harper Creek. The team amassed 99 lifetime best swims/dives during the two days of competition. League Champions in their events are as follows; The Medley Relay team of Ray Snyder, Landon Morgan, Tommy Huyge, and Jack Vezmar (1:40.04), Nate Turner in the 200 Free (1:49.65), Tommy Huyge in the 200 IM (2:01.31), Juul Loonen in the 100 Free (48.63), Carl Quist in the 500 Free (4:54.77), and the 200 Free Relay Team of Juul Loonen, Landon Morgan, Shea Morgan, and Jack Vezmar (1:32.71). Also, Juul Loonen set a new school record in the 50 free (21.93), a record that was set in 2000. Ethan Johnson (322.65), Shea Morgan (309.05), and Garett Avery (242.40). Great job by all swimmers and divers.
The Redhawks have qualified the following athletes to attend the State Championships in two weeks at Oakland University: Lincoln Bultemeier, Reagan Konkle, Juul Loonen, Reid Maurer, Jack McClure, Landon Morgan, Shea Morgan, Carl Quist, Ray Snyder, Jack Vezmar, Grant Doolittle, Tommy Huyge, Alex Kelly, Anthony Dent, Nate Turner, and Jerome Korten. Also, Garrett Avery, Ethan Johnson, and Shea Morgan will be attending diving regionals at St. John’s High School this Thursday. To advance to the state competition, these divers have to make it into the top 12 at regionals.
