Practices will begin on March 19, 2018 in the middle school gym. Students are expected to be ready by 2:50 PM and will practice until 4:45 PM. Practices will typically follow the routine of warm ups, running workout, field events, team stretches.
Students must have a health physical on file at Marshall Middle School in order to participate in the 2019 season. Physicals must be from after April 15th of 2018 in order for it to be counted. Other forms that need to be completed and signed by parent or guardian are Insurance Waiver and Emergency Contact forms. These can be found on the gomarshallredhawks.com website under the more tab, or see Coach Fuller. (ALL THREE FORMS MUST BE TURNED IN BEFORE YOU CAN PRACTICE)
The cost for a student to be on a middle school sport team is $35. Students must turn in that money before the first track meet on April 11th in order to participate as an athlete at any meet or competition. Students on free or reduced lunch are not charged pay-to-play
All athletes need to be prepared for changing weather conditions when it comes time for practicing. It is recommended that students pack a bag prepared for all weather conditions. It is better to pack too much rather than show up to practice unprepared. Track season falls during the spring time in Michigan meaning the weather can go from being very warm to very cold within a few hours and vise versa. Please bring appropriate shoes and clothing for running. Our first week of practice will be both indoor and outdoor.
Within the first week of practices students will be bringing home a Uniform Contract which will cover the cost to replace a uniform if lost and laundry details. Please keep an eye for this in the next week.
Students should prepare for heavy activity and exercise during track season. In order to help combat fatigue from running, students should make sure they are drinking water and eating healthy in order to keep their energy.
