Marshall opened the home portion of their schedule with a 6-1 victory over Holt this evening. Despite a sluggish 1st half, Marshall took a 2-0 lead on corner kick goals by Chloe Leugers (assisted by Katie Foster & Olivia Zulewski) and Natalia Egnatuk (assisted by Elise Walker & Olivia Zulewski).
In the second half, Marshall played much better soccer. They got four unanswered goals all from the run of play. Goals were scored by Lauren Terry (assisted by Chloe Leugers & Katie Foster), Kate Face (assisted by Katie Foster), Katie Foster (assisted by LaurenTerry & Chloe Leugers), & Olivia Zulewski (assisted by Elise Walker & Onnah Dereski). With the score at 6-0, Holt got a late consolation goal off a corner kick. It was the first goal allowed this season.
The win moves Marshall to a perfect 4-0-0 on the year.
With the win, the Marshall Soccer Program (Boys and Girls) have now gone over a year without losing a regular season game. In 2018, the girls went undefeated after spring break and the boys had an undefeated regular season in fall. So, the last regular season for Marshall High School Soccer was 1-0 to East Lansing on March 27th, 2018. Since that date, Marshall is 35-0-4 in regular season play.
Marshall returns to action at Sportsfest on Saturday. Marshall hosts Leslie in the 1st game at 9am. If Marshall wins, they would advance to the championship game 2:45pm. If they lose, they will play in the consolation game at 1:00pm.
