Friday, May 10 the varsity team competed at the Pennfield Invitational which is a different type of team event, players are paired together as 2 person teams and play 6 holes as alternate shot, 6 holes as best ball, and 6 holes as a scramble team. Marshall players took first overall and the team of Matt Flynn and Haydon Chapman were medalist for the tournament. Haydon & Matt – 62 * Colin McLane & Nate Tucker – 78 * Jacob Martinson & Dominic Hills – 82.
Our two junior varsity teams traveled to the Lakeview JV Invitational at Cedar Creek GC. Marshall Red shot a team total of 400 with Julian Strand leading the way posting a great round of 73. Joey Saari posted an 85, Carter Wheeler a 114, and Damen Hagelgans a 128. Marshall Black posted a team total of 411 with Harrison Chapman shooting 81, Jon Bomia 89, Logan Murphy a 113 and Fletcher Robson a 128.
Saturday, May 11th both the varsity and jv teams traveled to Forest Akers GC @ Michigan State University for the East Lansing Classic. After a frost delay the boys took to the course in yet another chilly tournament. Marshall Varsity posted a disappointing 323 good for 5th place as Forest Hills Northern took the tournament title with a 301. Competing for Marshall was Matt Flynn (79), Haydon Chapman (81), Carl Quist (81), Colin McLane (82), Konner Voigt (92).
The junior varsity team competed against 6 other jv teams and finished in 3rd place with a team total of 370. Julian Strand led the way with a 79 good for second place overall. Lucas Settinari shot 88, Nate Tucker a 97, Logan Murphy a 106, and Carter Wheeler a 122. Also playing as individuals was Garrett Voigt an 81 and Jacob Martinson an 88.
