Boys Varsity Baseball · Marshall Redhawks Baseball Sweeps Pennfield

Marshall Redhawks Baseball sweeps Pennfield and it took two days to do it!
In game 1 of a scheduled double header at Pennfield on Thursday, the Redhawks beat Pennfield 5-0 behind the strong arm of Trenton Fuller. Fuller scattered 7 hits in a complete game shut-out. Marshall was led offensively by Felipe Martinez, Justin Hankey, Cooper Middleton and Wyatt Gillum (double) with 2 hits each. Trenton Fuller tripled. Marshall played strong defensively as they only committed one error in the game.

In game 2, the Redhawks took a 2-1 lead into the second inning only to wait for lightening strikes to stop.  But that didn’t happen, so the game was suspended and played on Friday at Pennfield.  Odie Butler and Blake Patterson limited the Panthers to 2 runs.  Butler/Patterson combined in striking out eight Panther batters. Blake Patterson picked up the win on the mound.  At the plate, Rickey Nye, Felipe Martinez, Justin Hankey, Cooper Middleton and John Nash (double) contributed 1 hit a piece.

With the sweep, Marshall’s overall record is 19-7 and 9-2 in the Interstate-8.

The Redhawks play their last home double header  on Tuesday, May 21 at 4:00 pm (Senior Night)
