Boys Varsity Baseball · Marshall Baseball Gets a Double Header Split in Exciting Fashion

In a BIG I-8 matchup the Redhawks lost game 1 to Jackson Northwest 7-5.  Marshall then won game two 8-5 to earn the split.
In game one for Marshall Cooper Middleton, Trenton Fuller, and Felipe Martinez (2 RBI’s) each had a single.
The 2nd game saw the Redhawks fall behind early 4-0 but came back to take the  lead in the  3rd inning.   The Mounties tied it in the top of the 4th,  Marshall then took the lead for good 8-5 in the bottom of the 4th.     The big hit of the game was John Nash’s 3 run Home Run in the 4th inning.   For the game Cooper Middleton had 3 hits (double), Nash had 2 hits (double and HR),  Justin Hankey, Trenton Fuller, Wyatt Gillum, and Rickey Nye (double) all contributed a hit.
On the mound,   Blake Patterson got the win as he went 5.1 innings giving up only 1 earned run while striking out 5.   Felipe Martinez picked up the save.
MHS is now 20-8 overall and 10-3 in the I-8.     The Redhawks will play  at Harper Creek on Thursday at 4 pm to finish a previously weather related suspended game that was part of a DH.
