Marshall clinched it by beating Harper Creek 9-2, finishing a game that was suspended on April 11th. The game resumed with Harper Creek leading 1-0 heading into the 3rd inning. Justin Hankey walked to lead-off the top of the 3rd. Trenton Fuller blasted a 2 run homer over the left field fence giving Marshall a 2-1 lead. In the top of the 4th inning, Fuller came to the plate again, this time with Thomas Andalon and Felipe Martinez on base. Fuller then hit another bomb over the left field fence to give the Redhawks a 5-1 lead.
In the top of the 6th inning, Marshall put up 3 more runs and added another insurance run in the top of the 7th inning to give the Redhawks a 9-2 lead. Fuller finished the day with 2 home runs and 5 RBI’s. Nye had 3 hits, Cooper Middleton had 2 hits and Thomas Andalon had 2 hits (double). Felipe Martinez got the win on the mound by scattering 5 hits over 5 innings while giving up only 1 run. The Redhawks did not make an error throughout the contest. Marshall ends the I-8 conference with an 11-3 record for a 1st place finish!
Marshall will now begin preparations for the MHSAA Baseball Districts on June 1st by playing at Mason on May 28th.
