Marshall again saw their first competition of the day Lakewood in the tournament finals. After playing poorly and losing the first set 13-25, they came back and won set two 25-19. This set up a tough third set to decide the winners. After a back and forth start, Lakewood took the lead 14-11. With one point to decide the game, Marshall fought back and got within one at 13-14. Lakewood was able to seal the final point and took the win in set three of the finals 15-13.

“I am so proud of our girls today. They fought through so much adversity from sitting for three games straight to finishing number one overall by points, we didn’t give up. Even in the finals we faced adversity through some calls that did not go our way. The final game to 15 was our eighth straight set without a break and although they were exhausted, they worked until point 15. We accomplished great things today and look forward to our first conference game this coming week.” – Coach Sundell
