Girls Varsity Swimming · Girls Swimming and Diving Team season has begun!

The Marshall High School Girl’s Swimming and Diving Team have had a busy start to their 2019 season.
They have competed in 4 competitions to date. The first meet of the year was the Lakeview Relays
where they faced some of the best teams in the State. Marshall finished 10 th at the meet. The highest
placing relay was the diving relay team of Lexie Holt and Kennedy Lynn.
The second meet of the season was the always exciting SCC league relay meet. The team finished in 5 th
place. Marshall had three relays place in the top three; the 200 Medley Relay team of Maredith Byrd,
Camille Davis, Lucia Brophy, & Annabelle Machalka, the 400 Backstroke Relay team of Maia Bedwell,
Gabbie Croce, Miriam Brownell, & Jaylyn Jones, & the 200 Backstoke Relay team of Lexie Holt, Grace
Sobanski, Maredith Byrd, & Aurelia Wade.
The third meet of the season saw the young rebuilding Redhawks face off in a non-league competition
with Battle Creek Lakeview and Okemos. The team battled hard against the two bigger and deeper
teams but came up on the short end of the score against both teams.
The final meet took place this past Saturday, September 7 th , against Alma. Marshall was able to out
depth Alma throughout the meet. Marshall won by the score of 103-73. Finishing first on the night
were Larin Long (200), Jaylyn Jones (IM & 100 fly), Madi Koski (50 & 100 Free), Kennedy Lynn (Diving),
the 200 relay team of Miriam Brownell, Reagan Winnie, Maia Bedwell, & Larin Long, & Reagan Winnie
(100 Breaststroke).
Marshall will be heading to Sturgis to take on the Trojans this Tuesday at 6:00.
