Marshall played a home quad today and won all 3 matches. The Ladyhawks first matchup of the day was against Delton. They won that match easily by scores of 25-10, 25-10 and 25-10. They then took on Three Rivers and won that match easily as well by scores of 25-10, 25-8 and 25-17. Next up was the Huskies of Portage Northern. This match proved to be very competitive. Marshall won the first set 25-22 after being down early in the match by as many as 6 points. In the second set, Marshall would again start out down by four or five points but fought their way back on to lose 26-28. In the third and final set of the day, the Ladyhawks started out strong and held off a valient effort by the Huskies. Once in the lead, the Ladyhawks never looked back and flew off to a 25-17 victory to win the home quad!
On the day for Marshall, Abby Welke led the way offensively by tallying up 43 kills, 4 blocks, 3 aces to go along with 17 digs. Olivia Webber followed Welke up with 33 kills and 5 blocks. Also contributing on offense for Marshall was Natalie Frever and Courtney Fuller with 9 kills apiece. They both added 6 and 5 blocks each respectively. Marshall’s defense played stellar all day long. Leading the way was Ashlynn Giannunzio with 27 digs with Ella McAllister only 1 back with 26. Paige Crull chipped in 16 digs of her own. While running the offense today, Teagan Giannunzio tallied up 97 assists to go along with 10 digs and 6 aces. With their great play, the Ladyhawks extend their win streak to 14 matches.
