The Marshall Girls Varsity Swim Team began a fast and furious stretch of 5 swim meets over 8 days with a win over the Otsego Bulldogs on Tuesday, October 13, with a score of 105 to 81. The Lady Redhawks continued their goal of dropping times every time they hit the water; many of the girls swimming season best times.
Miriam Brownell, having one of the largest drops of the night, took first place in the 100 yard Butterfly dropping several seconds in a season best time of 1:14.42. Other Lady Redhawks taking first place in individual events were Jaylyn Jones in the 200 IM swimming a 2:36.12 and 100 Backstroke in a 1:13.07; and Reagan Winnie in the 100 Breaststroke in a time of 1:18.99. The team of Jones, Winnie, Brownell and Annabelle Machalka won the 200 Medley Relay in the time of 2:08.67 and the team of Brownell, Aubrey Peek, Larin Long, and Jones won the 400 Freestyle Relay in a 4:25.40.
Marshall’s next swim meet is Thursday, October 15 when they travel to South Haven.
