The Marshall Girls Varsity Swim Team came out victorious again on Saturday, 10/17 beating Alma High School 97 – 76. Coach Karns modified the typical line up allowing girls to try swimming different races. The girls all stepped up to the challenge and continued to swim fast, recording numerous personal and season best times.
Lady Redhawks taking 1st place in individual events were: Miriam Brownell in the 50 Free in a time of 29.17, Jaylyn Jones in 200 IM in a 2:35.86, Larin Long in the 100 backstroke in a season best time of 1:12.14, and Reagan Winnie in the 100 Breast in a 1:22.67. Madi Koski won diving with a score of 138.25. Marshall also won 2 of the relays. The team of Long, R, Winnie, Brownell and Annabelle Machalka won the 200 Medley Relay in a time of 2:10.00 and Aubrey Peek, A. Machalka, R. Winnie and Jones won the 200 Free Relay in a 1:58.33.
Season and personal best times were posted by the following swimmers: Aubrey Peek in the 50 free in a 29.51 and 100 Free in a 1:06.04; Lindsay Malone in the 50 Fly (Relay) in a 46.53 and 100 Free in a 1:26.61; Mallory Melton in the 50 Breast (Relay) in a 41.86 and 100 Breaststroke in a 1:41.95; Madi Koski in the 50 Breast (Relay) in a 40.31 and 500 Free in a 7:00.35; Aurelia Wade in the 200 IM in a 2:34.53; Larin Long in the 50 free in a 29.58, Kaelyn Konkle in the 200 Free in a 2:44.90, 100 Fly in a 1:23.84, and 100 Free (Relay) in a 1:15.13; Reese Rellinger in the 200 Free in a 2:35.27; Reagan Winnie in the 200 IM in a 2:44.37 and 50 Free (Relay) in a 28.57; Hallie Machalka in the 200 IM in a 3:23.96; Bodil Loonen in the 100 Free in a 1:09.78; Jaylyn Jones in the 500 Free in a 6:02.48; Cadynce Rewa in the 50 Free (Relay) in a 31.04; Alex Winnie in the 100 Breast in a 1:40.58; and Maddie Kue scored a personal best score of 106.25 in diving.
Marshall’s next swim meet will be Senior Night and is Monday, 10/19 at home against Allegan.
