The winner of the latest Enquirer Athlete of the Week fan poll is Camille DeCola of the Marshall girls cross country team.

Fans got behind DeCola to help her edge fellow Athletes of the Week finalists Ryne Petersen of Pennfield, Hannah Keenan of Lakeview and Jordan Eckman of St. Philip. DeCola received 53 percent of the vote by the 5 p.m. deadline on Wednesday. Thanks to her fans, she will receive an Enquirer Athlete of the Week T-shirt.

Just a freshman, Camille DeCola led the Marshall girls cross country team to first place in the Calhoun County Championships. DeCola had a personal best 20:11 to take first overall and has helped the Redhawks remain undefeated this year.

“Camille started training in June with our awesome group of returning runners, and has committed herself to becoming the best runner she can become.  She has pushed herself to train with girls that were better than her, and she has rapidly caught up.  She has a great attitude and is a pleasure to coach, and I’m sure she will continue to improve and excel,”  Marshall girls cross country coach Steven Wissink said.
