Marshall traveled to Coldwater on October 24th to compete in the I-8/Wolverine conference match up. The top teams from each conference faced off against one another. First up for Marshall was Three Rivers. Marshall dominated that match from the first serve of each set to win with scores of 25-13 and 25-8. Next up for the Ladyhawks were the Eddies from Edwardsburg. The Eddies took the first set from Marshall by a score of 25-18. The next two sets were all Marshall and they won with scores of 25-18 and 25-17 to win their second match of the day. The last match pitted Marshall against another I8 conference foe in Northwest. This was a hard fought battle to the end. The Ladyhawks prevailed and won in two straight by scores of 25-21 and 26-24.
On the day for the Ladyhawks, Olivia Webber and Abby Welke controled the offensive front with 31 and 29 kills respectively. They both also tallied up 5 blocks apiece. Welke also threw in 13 defensive digs. Teagan Giannunzio ran the offense very effectively today with 75 set assists to go along with 3 service aces, 2 kills and 12 defensive digs. Leading the defensive effort once again was Ella McAllister with 17 digs. Regan Fulmer and Ja’Nyece Larry played well on the day by contributing 7 and 6 kills respectively.
“This team… continues to amaze me! We’re at a point in the season that we need to be competing at a high level and we’re definitely doing that. Our bench is deep and every single one of these girls contribute every time we play. I’m proud that they continue to support one another and work together to earn every single point. I’m just going to continue soaking it all in and enjoy the ride.”
Next up for the Ladyhawks is a home quad on 10/27 and 10/29. Their overall record now stands at 27-6.
