The Marshall Redhawk JV Girls soccer team were on the road tonight and defeated, always tough, Parma Western. The Redhawks played a complete game from start to finish, every line, every player contributing to the win. Aly Zulewski scored on a great turn and hit to the far post from just inside the eighteen (assist Mia Cascioli) making it 1-0. The Redhawks slowly began to take charge of the game moving into halftime.
Marshall knew they would need more than one to put the Panthers away. Ava Karaba scored early in the second half, showing great patience in the box making it 2-0 (assist Emma Gresley) The two goal lead was short lived as Parma scored on a well struck free kick from just outside the box. Parma upped their intensity and were applying pressure. The Redhawks stuck to their game and Julia Irish scored on a beautiful back post cross from Gresley that cleared the defense, bounced once, and was buried into the back of the net. Gresley then scored off a free kick to put game out of reach. With the win Marshall moves to 3-0-0 on the season and look to keep getting better Saturday at home v Lakeview. Kick off is 10:00 am with varsity to follow.
