Girls Varsity Soccer · Girls Varsity Soccer Ties Western

Marshall traveled to Jackson yesterday to take on Western High School in an I-8 conference match with title implications.  Both teams entered the match unbeaten in the league and both left the match that way after a hard fought 1-1 tie.

Marshall had the edge in territorial play for much of the 1st half, but was unable to find the back of the net and the score was 0-0 at halftime.  In the second half, Marshall continued to carry play without creating great scoring opportunities.  Midway through the half, Natalie Frever broke the deadlock on assists from Ella McAllister and Ashlynn Giannunzio.  Despite limited opportunities, Western was able to tie the score on a corner kick goal.  Marshall pushed late in the match, but was unable to find another goal and the game ended 1-1.
WIth the tie, Marshall moves to 4-1-2 overall and 3-0-1 in I-8 conference play.
Marshall returns to action with a non-league match against Battle Creek Lakeview at Marshall High School on Saturday with kickoff scheduled for 11:30am.
