Barney Roy Invitational 2025

A great night of racing took place at the Barney Roy Invitational where Marshall hosted 10 teams on the course at Turkeyville. The girls placed 3rd and medals were taken home by Alaina Dillon (4th), Ellery Fazekas (12th), Adriana Domingo (15th), and Maura Young (20th). Alaina Hoffman (26th), Georgianna Schmidt (29th), and Shangmei Liu (35th) rounded out the top 7 for the Marshall Varsity squad. Aaliyah Johnson, Andrea Green, and Gianna DeCola also had a great race and put up their best times for the season.

The boys finished second to an extremely strong team from Parma Western. Abraham McHugh ran most of the race alongside the two all-state runners from Parma Western. Abe took a slight lead with about 800 meters to go and then was able to hold off one of the top ranked runners in the state with a fantastic kick to the finish to secure his 4th win of the season. Ty Winchell (14th), Austin Ruppel (15th), and Cameron Weers (16th) also took home medals for the Redhawks. Chase Weers topped off the varsity scoring while Victor Norrod, Aiden Vance, Caylor Elsesser, and Maxwell Romeri clocked their best times of the season.

It was also senior night, and following the race awards ceremony, Marshall was able to honor the senior runners and their parents.

The team is happy to have a break from racing over the holiday weekend with the next race scheduled for September 6 at the Bret Clements Invitational in Bath.
