The Marshall Girls Soccer team continued to build momentum early in the year with a 6-0 win on Monday evening against the visitors from Edwardsburg.

Early in the game, sophomore Alaina Dillon played senior Ollie Rozell into a great position on the right wing.  Rozell's cross was met by junior Lola Saber who opened the scoring by heading the ball past the Edwardsburg keeper and into the net.  Marshall didn't slow down from there.  Rozell continued her terrific night by dribbling behind the Eddies defense and depositing the ball into the bottom corner of the net to give Marshall a 2-0 lead.  Saber struck again with assists from senior Jordyn St. John and sophomore Nyla Whittaker to give Marshall a 3-0 lead.  Rozell found the net twice more, with the 2nd being an exceptional strike, to her a 1st half hat-trick and Marshall a 5-0 lead they would carry into halftime.  The fifth goal was assisted by St. John and senior Rory Fox.

Early in the 2nd half, Marshall found the net again when a Rozell corner kick was deflected by freshman Alyse Young.  Junior Scarlett Melton was on hand to bag her 1st varsity goal and give Marshall a 6-0 lead that would be the final score.

Junior goalkeeper Lauren Niemann marshalled a strong defensive performance by the Redhawks for the shutout.  The shutout is Niemann's 1st of the season.

With the win, Marshall moves to 2-1-0 on the season.  Marshall is off until after spring break.  They will return to action on Thursday, 4/9, when they travel to St. Johns for their 1st away contest of the year.
