The Marshall Redhawks Boys Track team placed 3rd Friday night at the Gowell Invitational in Charlotte. Running an impressive school record setting race was the 4 x 800 m team of Jake Lyon, George McClure, Tyler Tucker, and Perry Robson. They beat their own school record set last season winning the event in a time of 8:09.94.
Additionally, setting personal bests were several team members from the throwing team. Austin West placed 2nd in the discus in a personal best throw of 110’9″. He was followed by teammate, Linc Reincke who placed 3rd in his personal best throw of 109’6″, Stephen Turner placed fourth for the Redhawks in another personal best of 108’7″.
Also, earning individual medals for placing in the top five in their events were Jake Lyon 3rd in the 400m and 2nd in the long jump, Ian Babour 3rd in the long jump, Adam Foreman 5th in the 3200m, Brett Carlisle 5th in the 1600m and 4th in the 3200m, Tyler Tucker 3rd and George McClure 2nd in the 800m, Jack Luciani 1st in the high jump, and Ben Culp 2nd in the pole vault.
The 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relay teams each placed 2nd while the 4 x 200 m team placed 3rd in their event.
Great Job Redhawks. The track teams will compete at home this Tuesday, May 6th. Field events begin at 4:30 with running events at 5:15.
