The Marshall Redhawks Boys Cross Country Team placed 2nd at the Regional Meet on Saturday in Portage in a field of sixteen teams. The top three teams in each Regional earn a chance to race in the State Finals Meet next Saturday at Michigan International Speedway.
Adam Foreman, Marshall’s leading runner all season, placed 11th in a time of 16:58. Teammate Emmett Rosenzweig was the next Marshall runner, placing 16th in a time of 17:12. Rookie, senior, Tim Fouty was Marshall’s third placer of the day in 18th (17:17). Four year varsity runner, Conor McPartlin was Marshall’s fourth runner in 22nd (17:24). Completing the scoring for Marshall was Perry Robson 30th (17:38). Marshall’s sixth and seventh runners were seniors Paul Radulescu 38th (17:58) and Spencer Zick 39th (17:59).
Three of Marshall’s runners, Emmett Rosenzweig, Conor McPartlin, and Perry Robson, were on the team that ran in the State Meet in 2017. “It will be nice to have these runners return to the State Meet. Their prior experience will be an asset to their teammates.” said Coach Casagranda. “This is a great group of runners and leaders, it will be sad to have them graduate from the team, but I am so happy that they were able to attain their goal of returning to the State Meet this year! They are a well deserving bunch for sure.”
“We have battled our rival, Harper Creek, all season. Last weekend, we were able to beat them and tie for first place in the I-8 Conference. This weekend, they got the best of us. We have one more chance to run against them. The team is looking forward to the challenge at the State Meet.”
Great Job Redhawks!
