Marshall traveled to Pennfield High School this evening for what is likely the conclusion of their regular season. Marshall defeated Pennfield by a score of 7-0 to finish as undefeated I-8 Champs for the 4th consecutive season.

After about ten minutes of heavy pressure including a couple of terrific saves by the Pennfield goalkeeper, Jayson Janofski got Marshall on the board with a goal assisted by Josh Pugh and Brady Tatrow. The floodgates then opened up as Marshall stormed forward to score four more before halftime. Josh Pugh scored the 2nd goal assisted by Brady Tatrow and Evan Markos. Pugh struck again to make it 3-0 with assists going to Evan Markos and Micah Martinson. Dominic Dent scored the 4th goal with assists again going to Evan Markos and Micah Martinson. Dom’s older brother Anthony scored the 5th and final goal of the half on a corner kick from Vaughn Klein to give Marshall a 5-0 halftime lead.

In the 2nd half, Marshall continued to dominate play and create numerous chances. Ashton Kramer found the back of the with an assist from Parker Gilbertson to make the score 6-0. Late in half Marshall’s two normal goalkeepers combined to finish the scoring. With both goalkeepers in the game as forwards, on a play started by Branden Contat and Caleb Graeber, goalkeeper Nate Turner received the ball and redirected it to goalkeeper, Carter Wheeler, who calmly slammed the ball into the net which caused the bench to erupt with cheers. That goal made the score 7-0 which was the final score.

Nate Turner, Carter Wheeler, and Anthony Dent all split time in goal to earn the shutout.

With the win, Marshall moves to 9-1-0 on the season and wins their 9th game in a row. Marshall’s 3-0 victory over Coldwater on Tuesday night had clinched the I-8 title for them, but tonight they concluded an undefeated 7-0-0 run through their I-8 schedule.

Marshall will return to action on Tuesday, October 20th for a district semi-final against the winner of the Charlotte -v- Battle Creek Central district 1st round game. That game will be at Marshall High School with a kick-off time to be determined.
