The Marshall wrestling team travelled to Stevensville Lakeshore for Individual District 13-2 on Saturday. With only the top four advancing to next weeks regional tournament at Vicksburg High School, Marshall was able to advance 3 wrestlers.
Noah Booton wrestled his way into the finals and lost a close match to take 2nd at 125 pounds. Wink McDonald went 3-2 on the day and placed 4th at 145 and Justin Hankey also placed 4th at 189 to make this his second trip in a row to the regional tournament.
“We had a lot of very tough matches today and I am very proud of how strong all of our kids looked. This is a difficult time of year and everyone is fighting tooth and nail to get through. We had a very difficult district competition so to get three guys through makes me pleased. I was hoping for a couple more and thought we had a chance but just came up short,” said coach Nick Zuehlke. “We will put in a hard weeks practice this week and hopefully we can get all three of them through to the state meet at Ford Field. All three guys have the talent and skills to get through, at this point it is about who works hardest and wants it more.”
