April 25th, The MMS Track teams took first place for both boys and girls teams, competing against Mar-Lee and Pennfield at Marshall High School. The team of Waito, MacQuaig, Burnham, M. Johnson took first place in the girls 4×800 relay. Taking first for boys, was the team of Alegria, Lillrose, Geairn, Kase. In the 55 meter hurdles, Jack Minor took first place with a time of 10.2 seconds. Winning the boys 100-meter dash was Josh Pugh with a time of 12 seconds. Both Marshall 4×200 relay teams took first place, with the boys winning by .4 seconds ahead of Pennfield. Cole Osterwalder earned first place in the boys 1600 meter run improving his personal best time to 6:24.50. Both boys and girls 4×100 teams took first place. Bailey Parker ran to a first-place finish in the girls 400-meter race. Ray Alsoufi edged out teammate Kooper Lewis and Brandon Ritter for first place in the boys 70-meter dash with a time of 9.7 seconds. Malena Johnson took first place in the girls 800-meter run. Jack Minor jumped out to a commanding lead in the 200-meter hurdles, taking first with a time of 32.60. Lillian Spiekermann held on to first place in the girls 200-meter run, winning by a tenth of a second. Marshall girls also took first place in the 4×400, with the team of Waito, Parker, Karaba, Stealy. Girls shot put was won by Ava Karaba with a throw of 32 feet and 3.5 inches. Karaba took first and also tied the school record for high jump when she cleared 4 feet and 10 inches. Shawn Brophy and Bailey Parker both cleared 6 feet, 9 inches taking first and second place in the pole vault, while Addison Waito took third place clearing 6 feet. On the boy’s side, Dimitri Egnatuk tied the school record, clearing 8 feet and 6 inches. Lastly, Josh Pugh won boys long jump with a jump of 19 feet and 4 inches. Overall, Marshall athletes set or broke 58 personal records.
