Harper Creek Quad Score Results: Harper Creek - 14, Marshall - 10, Portage Northern - 10, and Eaton Rapids - 5 Match Recaps: Saturday August 15, 2026, The Marshall RedHawks tennis opens its season in a quad tournament held at Harper Creek. The team showcased its remarkable depth on the doubles courts this week, riding a wave of stellar tandem performances to capture 10 points and tie Portage Northern in a highly competitive quad match. Battle Creek Harper Creek secured the top spot with 14 points, while Eaton Rapids finished with 5. No. 1 Singles: Representing Marshall at No. 1 Singles, Harrison Nessel faced incredibly stiff competition, dropping both of his matchups on the day. Nessel was defeated by Logan Messenger of Battle Creek Harper Creek in straight sets (6-0, 6-0) and later fell to Eaton Rapids' Lon Pringle in another tough straight-sets battle (6-3, 6-2). No. 2 Singles: At No. 2 Singles, Brendan Parks battled hard but ultimately went winless in his matches. Parks fell to Battle Creek Harper Creek's Quinten Valenzuela by a score of 6-1, 6-3, and was shut out in an 8-0 decision against Jude Hokanson of Eaton Rapids. No. 3 Singles: Arjun Lamuth held down the No. 3 Singles position for Marshall but struggled to find a breakthrough, dropping both of his matches. Lamuth fell in straight sets (6-1, 6-1) to Daniel Beaver of Eaton Rapids before fighting for games in an 8-3 loss to Portage Northern's Cooper Stankus. No. 4 Singles: Dean Haroff put together a stellar performance at No. 4 Singles, securing two impressive victories for Marshall. Haroff started strong with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory over Elijah Luebbert of Portage Northern, bounced back from a 6-2, 6-0 loss to Battle Creek Harper Creek's Jake Schragg, and finished his day strong by cruising past Noah Quainton of Eaton Rapids 8-2. No. 1 Doubles: The tandem of John Hazen and Jack Marsh earned a strong split on the day. They opened with a straight-sets victory over Battle Creek Harper Creek's Owen Goodwin and Camden Graham (6-2, 7-5) before putting up a tough fight in a 6-2, 6-4 loss to Thomas Blind and Zach Shaman of Portage Northern. No. 2 Doubles: The No. 2 Doubles pairing of Derek McDonald and Caleb Emmons had an outstanding, highly productive day on the court. They swept past Eaton Rapids' Archer Barcroft and Noah Ridler with a swift 6-0, 6-1 victory, and despite a close 6-4, 6-4 loss to Naveen Bhatt and Carter Chucta of Portage Northern, they rallied to win an absolute thriller against Battle Creek Harper Creek's Carson Gardner and Ekam Singh in a clutch 8-7 (2) tiebreaker. No. 3 Doubles: Brady Hill and Landen Emmons teamed up at No. 3 Doubles to split their match results. The duo put on a masterclass in their opening match, routing Paul Rzepka and Caleb Canavan of Portage Northern 6-1, 6-1, but they were unable to carry that momentum forward, falling to Jett Casarez and Colton Heil of Battle Creek Harper Creek in straight sets (6-2, 6-1). No. 4 Doubles: At No. 4 Doubles, Samuel Scott and Brogan Jones displayed excellent resilience after starting their day with a 6-0, 6-1 defeat to Battle Creek Harper Creek's Nolan Erskine and Noah Martin. The duo bounced back in spectacular fashion, sweeping Eaton Rapids' Marvin Farnum and Calvin Norton 8-0, and closing their day with a dominant 8-2 win over Logan Stankus and Channing Watkins of Portage Northern. No. 5 Doubles: Marshall's No. 5 Doubles pair of Elliott Nicholson and Zach Arend put on a flawless, undefeated exhibition. The champions cruised through both of their matchups in straight sets, first defeating Battle Creek Harper Creek's Jeremiah Aceituno and Aiden Ferrell 6-4, 6-3, and then putting away Portage Northern's Landon Roe and Kush Kolhe 6-2, 6-3. No. 5 Doubles (Elliott Nicholson & Zach Arend): This duo was the absolute gold standard for Marshall, going completely undefeated (2-0). They put on a clinic in straight-sets efficiency, defeating Battle Creek Harper Creek (6-4, 6-3) and Portage Northern (6-2, 6-3). No. 4 Singles (Dean Haroff): Haroff was the shining light for Marshall’s singles lineup, securing two dominant wins. He shut down Portage Northern's Elijah Luebbert (6-0, 6-1) and cruised past Eaton Rapids' Noah Quainton (8-2). No. 2 Doubles (Derek McDonald & Caleb Emmons): This pairing showed incredible mental toughness. In addition to a 6-0, 6-1 routing of Eaton Rapids, they won an absolute thriller against Battle Creek Harper Creek, outlasting them in a clutch 8-7 (2) tiebreaker. No. 1 Doubles (John Hazen & Jack Marsh): Earned a strong, straight-sets victory against Harper Creek before falling in a tight battle to Portage Northern. Elliott Nicholson & Zach Arend (No. 5 Doubles): Nominated as a duo for being the only flight in the entire Marshall lineup to go undefeated on the day, showcasing perfect chemistry and securing maximum points for their team. Dean Haroff (No. 4 Singles): Nominated for carrying the singles torch. In a tough day for Marshall's singles side, Haroff stepped up to win two of his three matches in dominant fashion. The Power of the Pack (Doubles Dominance): While Marshall tied Portage Northern with 10 points overall (behind Battle Creek Harper Creek's 14), the highlight of the week was the sheer depth of Marshall's doubles program. Of Marshall's 10 total points, 8 points came from double flights. Marshall won at least one match on every single double flight (No. 1 through No. 5), proving that their doubles lineup is a formidable force that keeps them competitive in multi-team formats. Our Marshall RedHawks put on a clinic of depth, grit, and teamwork this week, bringing home 10 points to tie Portage Northern in a highly competitive quad match! While Battle Creek Harper Creek took the top spot (14 points), our squad showed that it was tough to beat across the entire lineup. Our doubles teams won at least one match in every single flight, proving the incredible depth of this RedHawk program! I couldn't be prouder of the fight in these boys today, we talked all week about staying resilient in tough moments, and every single player stepped up. Our doubles lineup showed incredible chemistry, and seeing our guy’s battle through high-pressure tiebreakers is exactly what will set us apart as the season goes on.
