Softball 4/9 @ Coldwater
Game 1 Coldwater 18 Marshall 3 Rough start for the Redhawks in conference play as we couldn’t manage to get outs in key moments. Give Coldwater all the credit here as they hit everything; they’re a very talented team. Offensively Brielle Kelly led off the game with a solo blast Homerun to centerfield. Overall, it was Bella Ryan, Alayna Hayes, and Addison Carden collecting multiple hits for the Redhawks. Game 2 Coldwater 11 Marshall 4 In a game that was much closer than the score indicates, the Redhawks battled and showed a ton of heart. Pitching improved from Layne Churchill and Claire Kelly but we kicked the ball around a bit in the field and gave up some untimely big hits to Coldwater. Offensively we managed 9 more hits including a home run from Alayna Hayes. Collecting multiple hits were Brielle Kelly, Claire Kelly, and Gwen Beach. 2-2 overall, 0-2 Conference

Marshall Girls Soccer
Marshall traveled to St. Johns High School last night for their 1st game away from Marshall High School this season. The Redhawks battled hard and scored a goal with only 15 seconds left in the game to claim a 1-0 victory. The game was played largely in midfield with both teams struggling to create quality chances and was scoreless at halftime. After the break, Marshall's play improved and they slowly began to gain an upper hand in both territory and chances created, but they still struggled to create high quality chances. When they did, the St. John's goalkeeper was up to the task. In the last minute of play, Lola Saber was fouled deep in Marshall's attacking end after some nice hold up play. Marshall was patient in setting up the free kick. Ollie Rozzell sent a low free kick around the wall and into the box. Lillian Moore was able to dart in front of her defender and redirect the free kick, which left the goalkeeper helple

JV Softball Vs Quincy
Game 1: Marshall 2, Quincy 3Milla Hall was outstanding on the mound, allowing just three hits, no walks, and striking out five.Game 2: Marshall 8, Quincy 11Sophia Hankey showed tremendous growth in only her second year pitching, recording two strikeouts and displaying great poise. Her hard work is paying off, and this performance is just the beginning for her.The girls may not have come away with wins, but their play was extremely encouraging. Quincy is a strong, seasoned team, and facing them early was a great test. We battled some first-game nerves and adjustments to new positions, yet the girls refused to make excuses. They competed with focus and resilience throughout both games.Across the two contests, we tallied 10 hits, with every player contributing at the plate. As expected for our first outing, there are a few areas to tighten up, but the most important takeaway was our mindset—mistakes didn’t define us. The team showed grit, a “next play” attitude, and a hunger to improve.Ne

Marshall Varsity Boys Soccer With Tough Loss to Plainwell
Boys Varsity SoccerMarshall hosted Plainwell for a boys soccer match Saturday afternoon at Marshall High School and was defeated by the Trojans by a 2-0 score. A strong Plainwell team, regional finalist last fall and currently with only one loss on the season, was too much in the end for Marshall, but Marshall fought gamely. In a well-played first half, Marshall and Plainwell traded chances and while Plainwell found the net twice to take a 2-0 lead into halftime, the margin was razor thin as Marshall created some very quality chances and played some very effective attractive soccer. In the second half, Marshall seemed to run out of gas a little bit. The 3rd game of the week and the heavy emotional investment in Thursday, I-8 Conference win at Hastings, seemed to take their toll. Marshall didn't have the same energy in the half and Plainwell certainly carried more of the play throughout the 2nd half. Although chances were fewer and further between for M

Marshall Boys Varsity Soccer Remains Undefeated in the 1-8
Boys Varsity SoccerThe Marshall Boys Soccer team traveled to Hastings yesterday for an I-8 Conference matchup. Marshall prevailed by a 3-2 score to move to 3-0-0 in league play and remain in position to challenge for a league title. Marshall played well and, despite a few quality scoring chances, was unable to find the net in the opening half. The teams went to halftime tied at 0-0. After the scoreless first half, the second half was an offensive explosion. Marshall played some of their best soccer of the year in the second half putting together some very fluent attacking combinations. The improved play paid off when Carson Clapper won a ball in the Marshall defensive half and played a square pass to Jaxon Weitting. Weitting maneuvered around two Hastings defenders to get space out wide and delivered a ball up the wing and behind the Hastings defense to Ronnie Gill. Gill collected the ball, cut inside the Hastings centerback and wrong-footed th

Marshall Boys Varsity Soccer Maintains Perfect Start to I-8 League Season
Boys Varsity SoccerThe Marshall Boys Soccer Team hosted Jackson Northwest (NW) in an I-8 Conference Match-up Tuesday evening at Marshall High School. Marshall came away 2-0 winners to maintain a perfect start to the league season. Marshall struck early with 2 goals in the opening 10 minutes. Inside of a minute, Ivan Egnatuk won a tackle deep inside the NW half. The ball squirted to Ronnie Gill at the top of the box. Gill wiggled through 2 NW defenders and laid an inviting ball off to Rowdy Joseph about 15 yards from goal. Joseph gladly accepted the invite and steered the ball into the back of the net to give Marshall an early 1-0 lead. Marshall built upon that lead when Ben Baker connected a pass to Joseph near the top of the NW box. Joseph scooped a ball over the NW backline and into the path of the on-rushing Ivan Egnatuk. Egnatuk lunged to meet the ball in the air and successfully connected with the ball, guiding the ball into th

Marshall Boys Varsity Soccer Victorious over Parma Western in First Conference Game of the Year
Boys Varsity SoccerMarshall traveled to Parma this evening for the opening I-8 Conference match of the year and came away with a hard fought, but well deserved, 2-1 victory. After finishing the weekend with a tie against Mason (ranked #7 in D2 in the state of Michigan), Marshall was hoping to really build some momentum. Early in the match, Marshall may have been a little too amped up. Despite the beginnings of some very promising plays, Marshall was plagued by poor unforced turnovers and blown defensive assignments. One of those turnovers resulted in the opening goal. After a Marshall turnover, the Western forward unleashed a 25 yard thunderbolt that left Marshall goalkeeper, John Meyer, with no chance. So, early in the match, Marshall was 1-0 down even though the goal was very much against the run of play. The goal seemed to help Marshall settle in though as the rest of the half featured much sharper play from the Redhawks. They created n
