The Marshall girls golf team traveled to Gobles on Friday the 14th and had a great start to the season today at the Shamrock Hills Invitational, competing in a field of 17 teams. Congrats to Harper Creek, winners of the event with an incredible team score of 333. Marshall finished tied for 7th overall with a score of 409, led by junior Anna Thompson, who shot a career-best tying 85. This score earned her a top ten medal and placed her tied for 6th out of 96 players. Junior Sophia Hankey followed with a personal career best 105. The team also had several impressive debuts. Senior Regan Bayley carded a 109 in her first-ever match, and another Senior newcomer, Ava Metheny rounded out Marshall’s scorers with a solid 110. Sophomore Hazel Grabowski logged a 125 for the Redhawks, and freshman Christina Eubank tallied a 140 in her competitive debut. Coach Bob Voigt shared his enthusiasm for the performance: "I am extremely impressed with the team in their first match. We didn't quite know what we had to work with coming into this season, and after today, we are nothing but excited for the next few weeks!" Written by John Thompson
