Marshall vs Otsego High School (5 - 3) Win Marshall (1-0) defeated Otsego (0-1) by a 5-3 score on August 20th, getting just enough from the back end of the lineup to hold off the visitors in the season opener. Otsego won two singles matches, but Marshall answered with three singles victories and took two of the three doubles matches it needed to seal the dual. The key swing came at No. 4 doubles, where Marshall’s Brogan Jones (3-1) and Zach Arend (3-0) outlasted Otsego’s Stephen Braun (0-1) and Christos Livieratos (0-1) 6-4, 4-6, 11-9 in a three-set battle. Marshall also got a straight-set win at No. 1 doubles from Jack Marsh and John Hazen, who topped Owen Santman and Wyatt Dennis 6-3, 6-4 and No. 3 doubles Brady Hll and Landen Emmons, defeated Jack Badiner, Otsego - Kayleb Nelson, Otsego, 7-5 , 6-1. In singles, Otsego’s Carson Wiser took No. 1 over Harrison Nessel 6-2, 6-4, while Brendan Parks and Dean Haroff provided Marshall’s response at Nos. 2 and 3. Otsego added another point at No. 4 singles behind Brendan Alkire, but the depth on Marshall’s side proved decisive as the team opened the year with a victory.
