Marshall Varsity vs Plainwell High School (2 - 2) Tie Marshall traveled to Plainwell on Tuesday evening for a boys soccer contest that ended in a 2-2 tie. After not scoring a goal in their first four games, Marshall finally got the offense kick-started against Plainwell. Within the 1st 12 minutes of the game, Marshall had jumped out to a 2-0 lead on two goals by Rowdy Joseph. The first goal was assisted by Trenton Wolkiewicz. The goal had assists from both Carson and Carter Clapper. Marshall continued to create some high quality chances, but was unable to make show on the scoreboard. Before halftime, a coaching error allowed Plainwell to get a goal back and the teams went into the intermission with Marshall leading 2-1. In the 2nd half, Marshall's level of play dipped and they were unable to generate many clear chances. The game was largely played between the boxes as Marshall's defense was able to keep Plainwell from generating much offense as well. With less than 10 minutes remaining in the half, Plainwell was able to level the score at 2-2. After giving up the game-tying goal, Marshall did finally generate some legitimate offense in the closing moments, but it was too little too late. The result leaves Marshall's record at 0-3-2 on the season. It is their 2nd consecutive tie. Marshall will their first home game of the year on Thursday (8-28) when they host Jackson in a non-conference game scheduled to kick off at 6:30pm.
