Marshall HS Varsity vs Chelsea Invitational- Fourth Place Finish The Marshall High School girls swimming team turned in a strong performance at the Chelsea Invitational on Sept. 26, combining several top finishes with significant time improvements throughout the meet. Marshall collected multiple top-six individual finishes and two top-three relay finishes, highlighted by strong performances from Katie Robinson, Isabella Russell, Autumn Sanchez and Ella Kaniewski. Robinson led the way with a pair of top-three finishes. She captured second place in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:15.86, dropping an impressive 11.12 seconds, before finishing third in the 100 freestyle in 1:01.02. Russell also delivered a standout meet. She finished second in the 500 freestyle in 5:51.57, improving her previous time by 12.12 seconds, and added a third-place finish in the 100 backstroke in 1:12.37, cutting 2.70 seconds from her previous mark. Sanchez recorded a fifth-place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.67, while also taking third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:18.94. In the 200 freestyle relay, Sanchez also helped Marshall's A relay finish second. Kaniewski posted a pair of top-five finishes, taking fifth in the 200 individual medley in 2:39.23 after improving by 5.59 seconds. She followed that with a fourth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke in 1:22.14, improving by another 2.67 seconds. Marshall's relay squads were particularly successful. The A team of Russell, Sanchez, Robinson and Kaniewski placed third in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:11.11. Then the Marshall A relay continued its strong showing in the 200 freestyle relay, where Sanchez, Kaniewski, Robinson and Russell finished second in 1:51.60. The B relay of Ameleah Hill, Isabella Towne, Emry Astleford and Payton Huffman finished ninth in 2:11.21. Other individual performances included Huffman's eighth-place finish in the 200 freestyle in 2:26.30, a 3.14-second improvement, and her 12th-place finish in the 100 backstroke in 1:22.60, where she dropped 2.21 seconds. Olding also made significant gains, improving 13.20 seconds in the 200 IM, finishing 12th in 2:59.01. She later placed 14th in the 100 butterfly in 1:29.47 after dropping 7.76 seconds. Marshall received additional contributions from Hill, Towne, Astleford and Mary Fedders. Hill improved in both the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke, while Towne dropped time in both events as well. Fedders improved by 3.37 seconds in the 100 freestyle and 2.82 seconds in the 100 breaststroke. The B relay of Hill, Towne, Astleford and Fedders finished 10th in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 5:10.81. Overall, Marshall's performance at Chelsea was marked by a combination of strong finishes and continued improvement. The team recorded two top-three relay finishes and numerous individual top-five performances, while several swimmers posted substantial drops from their previous times. The results provide positive momentum for the Marshall girls as they continue through the 2026 season.
