This past week the Marshall Cross Country team competed in an I-8 Jamboree on Tuesday followed by the Stockbridge Invitational on Saturday. In the Jamboree, both the mens and womens team finished 4th in the team standings. Abraham McHugh won the men's race. Caylor Elsesser (13th), Austin Ruppel (16th), Aiden Vance (27th), and Maxwell Romeri (33th) also scored varsity points for the Redhawks. Scoring for the women were Alaina Dillon 3rd, Ellery Fazekas 25th, Nadia Smyczek 27th, Gianna DeCola 30th, and Aaliyah Johnson 56th. The teams were greeted by near perfect running conditions on Saturday morning at Stockbridge and the runners did not disappoint by scoring many personal best (PB) or season best (SB) The mens varsity hit the course first and were able to rally for a 7th place finish among 19 schools. Scoring for the men were Abraham McHugh (4th), Caylor Elsesser (27th), Austin Ruppel (45th), Owen Hanson (77th and a PB), Aiden Vance (92nd), and Maxwell Romeri (99th). For the women, Marshall (down to only 5 runners) finished 9th out of 17 schools. Alaina Dillon ran a SB to finish 3rd while Hailey McKinlay (27th) and Nadia Smyczek (51st) both ran their PB. Gianna DeCola and Aaliyah Johnson also ran SBs to finish 67th and 109th, respectively. And the running wasn't over yet as Marshall had 4 runners in the men's junior varsity race. All four runners hit their PB with Luke Frye finishing 15th, Jacob Spauling (18th), Remy Hall (21st), and Blake Mannes (34th). Great job Redhawks!
