Marshall High School

Sturgis (6-5-2) defeated Marshall (4-4-1) by a 7-1 score on September 24th, sweeping all four singles matches and controlling three of four doubles flights. Carter Oswald set the tone for Sturgis at No. 1 singles, defeating Harrison Nessel 6-2, 6-4. At No. 2, Brody Currier rallied after dropping the first set to beat Brendan Parks 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 in a three-set battle. Andrew Scheske and Cooper Barkby completed the singles sweep, with Barkby earning a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4. Marshall’s Jack Marsh and John Hazen claimed the only point for their team at No. 1 doubles, overcoming Sturgis’ Easton Barkby and Seth Larimer 6-0, 1-6, 6-4. Sturgis answered with Dominic Brown and Kellen Meyer at No. 2 doubles, where they beat Derek Mcdonald and Caleb Emmons 6-0, 6-4, then also won the Nos. 3 and 4 flights.
