Marshall 8 - Olivet 0 Marshall traveled to Olivet HS on Wednesday (10/14) evening for a 1st round district game in the MHSAA tournament. Dispute being the #2 seed in the district, Marshall had to travel to Olivet because Olivet was hosting the district. Marshall did not let the bus ride inconvenience them as they came out firing and put the game away early. Marshall got their 1st goal less than 2 minutes into the half when Carson Clapper finished off a nice cross from Max McCormick. It took another 10 minutes for Marshall to find the net again, but when they did, they scored 5 goals in the next ten minutes. Goals went to Max McCormack (assisted by Trenton Woliewicz), Rowdy Joseph (penalty kick), Joseph again (assisted by Carter Clapper and Cooper Houseman), Cooper Houseman (assisted by Joe Grinston and Myles Olson), Joe Grinston (assisted by Pietro Rezzadori). After that flurry of goals, Marshall didn’t score again until about 8 minutes remained in the 1st half when Owen Jakubas (assisted by Anthony Ours and Pietro Rezzadori) and Joe Egnatuk (assisted by Gavin Ramey) scored to give Marshall an 8-0 lead as the half wound down. Sam Kreuger had a quiet night in goal behind the Marshall defense to get the shutout. It is the 10th shutout on the season for Kreuger and the Marshall defense. With the win, Marshall improves its overall record to 12-4-3 on the year, they stretch their unbeaten streak to 10 games, but, most importantly, they advance to the district semi-final on Monday, 10/18, against I-8 conference rival Harper Creek. The game is at Olivet High School and kickoff is scheduled for 7pm.
