Gull Lake stormed out of the game and was the stronger team in the first half.  They made their advantage show up on the scoreboard with two 1st half goals to give them a 2-0 halftime lead.

In the 2nd half, Marshall was a different team, earning more possession and creating many quality scoring chances throughout the half.  Midway through the half, Ben Baker, playing in his 1st game of the game of the season after an ankle injury in preseason, served a beautiful free kick into the Gull Lake box.  His younger brother, sophomore Branden Baker, rose above the Gull Lake defense and hammered a header into the back of the net to narrow Gull Lake's lead to 2-1.  The goal was Baker's 1st goal of the season.  Despite continued pressure, Marshall was unable to find the net again and the final score was 2-1 Gull Lake.

With the loss, Marshall is 2-2-0 on the season.
