Holt's size and athleticism caused Marshall trouble right from the opening whistle.  It was a good 15-20 minutes, before Marshall began to adjust and figure out how and where they could have success.  Unfortunately, by that time, Holt had found the back of the net when Marshall couldn't fully clear a corner kick and Holt reacted quickly to side volley the ball impressively into the net and give Holt a 1-0 lead. In the second 20 minutes of the 1st half, Marshall grew into the game and began to create some chances of their own, but they continued to have trouble dealing with Holt's athleticism and pace when they were defending.  A defensive miscue allowed Holt to put the ball in the net again and take a 2-0 lead into halftime.

The second half was more of the same as Marshall continued to grow into the game on the attacking side.  They were able to generate chances, but not goals. Late in the half, Marshall earned a corner kick and they threw everyone into the box in hopes of getting a goal to tighten the scoreline.  Holt was able to clear the ball and launch a counterattack that resulted in a breakaway goal.  That gave Holt a 3-0 lead which would go on to become the final score.

The loss drops Marshall's record to 2-3-0 on the season.

Marshall is off until Saturday, 9/7, when they take on perennial D3 state power Grosse Ile at a tournament in Williamston.
