Marshall’s Lady Redhawks continued the season with two swim events in the recent week.  The first was a Tri-Meet that also included Harper Creek and Coldwater.  This meet, hosted by Coldwater, allowed a three-way match up for each team to be scored against the other two.  Harper Creek was the overall winner for the night and Marshall’s swimmers gave it their all against the competition – some in events that were “first-ever” attempts.

Many individual races posted solid results.  Grace Johnson swam the 100 Yard Butterfly with a personal best time of under one minute seventeen seconds to place 3rd.  Maria Dent also earned a 3rd place finish in the 500 Yard Freestyle, and Claire Thomas claimed 3rd in the 100 Yard Freestyle.  The night’s top finisher was Alexes Spencer’s 1st place diving score of 168.35.  This was a personal record score for Spencer and her fellow divers Lindsay Miller and Meagan Raysin came in 4th and 5th, respectively. “We are continuing to grow as a team and I’m proud of how our newer members are learning and improving,” Said Coach Dave Karns.  “For many of our swimmers, this is their first time in competition.  They are putting in the work and I know we’ll be seeing results throughout the season.”

The second event of the week was a one-on-one conference meet with the Otsego Bulldogs.  Marshall wasn’t able to post enough points to push past Otsego to win the meet, but there were standout performances by several of the Lady Redhawks.  The 200 Yard Medley Relay team of Courtney Olding, Grace Johnson, Autumn Sanchez, and Lilly Marvin earned a 2nd place finish.  Alexes Spencer led the Marshall Dive lineup that included Lindsey Miller, Meagan Raysin and Olivia Suhocki.  Spencer placed first and Miller placed third.  Marshall dominated in the 100 Yard Backstroke competition with swimmers Courtney Olding placing first, Ava Wagner in second, and Ameleah Hill in third.  Claire Thomas secured a first-place finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle, and was second in the 100 Yard Freestyle.  Keep up the great work, ladies.
