A strong Plainwell team, regional finalist last fall and currently with only one loss on the season, was too much in the end for Marshall, but Marshall fought gamely. In a well-played first half, Marshall and Plainwell traded chances and while Plainwell found the net twice to take a 2-0 lead into halftime, the margin was razor thin as Marshall created some very quality chances and played some very effective attractive soccer.

 

In the second half, Marshall seemed to run out of gas a little bit.  The 3rd game of the week and the heavy emotional investment in Thursday, I-8 Conference win at Hastings, seemed to take their toll.  Marshall didn't have the same energy in the half and Plainwell certainly carried more of the play throughout the 2nd half.  Although chances were fewer and further between for Marshall, they did create a chance or two that could have changed the game, but just couldn't find the final touch and had to accept a 2-0 defeat.

 

With the loss, Marshall falls back to .500 for the year with a 6-6-1 record.  Marshall returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to Pennfield High School.  They will look to stay undefeated in the I-8 Conference and keep their conference title hopes alive when they battle the Panthers with kickoff scheduled for 6pm.
