The MHS Golf ladies wrapped up an amazing season at The Regional Tournament @ Arbor Hills Golf Club. In a strong field of 16 teams the RedHawk ladies finished 7th. But that’s deceptive in that three teams qualify for the state finals and as a team we were only 7 strokes from going to State. This is a pivotal moment for ladies golf in Marshall after not having enough girls to play for a team qualification to two 16th place finishes, to now breaking into the top half at regionals. These ladies played their hearts out and as a coach I am incredibly proud of them. In addition to that they also finished second in the I-8 Conference.

 

The Regional Team was led by 3rd year Junior Aubrey Tarkiewicz who shot a season and career best round of 94, tying Senior Zadie Zuehlke for low score this season. At regionals playing with a nasty cold Zuehlke still battled to a team #3 finish carding a very respectable 102. Zuehlke was edged out for the team #2 position by Freshman Anna Thompson with a personal 2nd best round of the year with a 100. Rounding out the Marshall scoring was Junior Aubrey Dysinger with a 109. Marshall also played freshman Anna Vincent who played Varsity in all but 2 rounds this season. These top 5 girls shined for Marshall all season winning individual medals and earning accolades along the way.

 

Contributing through the season for Marshall but not playing at regionals, were freshman and sophomores Sophie Fondren, Ariana Torrez and Ada Winchell.

Sadly but fortunately we are only losing one senior, Zadie Zuehlke. This bodes well for the RedHawk Lady Golfers next year as they make another run for Conference, Regional and State Championships.
