On Sunday February 2 nd the Boys bowling team traveled to Bronson to attend the Trojan Baker
Invitational Tournament. Varsity and JV took part in the tournament along with 15 other schools.
The tournament included two singles games and 8 baker games. The top 8 would make the cut
and move into match play. The Varsity boys started in the cut at the number 8 spot after the
singles games with two series over 800. Then they started the long road of 8 bakers. When
that concluded the Varsity team made the cut as the # 5 seed and moved onto match play which
was best out of 5 Baker games. Unfortunately, the JV boys did not make cut, so they did not
move onto match play. The varsity boys started head-to-head Baker games against the # 4
seed Adrian Madisson and took the first 3 Baker games which secured their spot in the next
round of match play. This round they faced Pennfield the #2 seed and the Redhawks shut them
out winning the first 3 Baker games to secure a spot in the final match against the #1 seed
Niles. After a long grueling road of 2 singles games and 14 Baker games the Redhawks moved
into the final match with determination and a second wind. The Redhawks bowled their highest
Baker of the tournament a 225 with the line up of Dylan Newbre, Ridge Novak, Leeland Murphy,
Ayden George and Xavier VanDeMoortel to win the first Baker against Niles 208 game. With a
score of 174-134 the Redhawks secured the second Baker game as well with the lineup of
Jackson Gore, Ridge Novak, Leeland Murphy, Ayden George and Xavier VanDeMoortel. This
put the boys at 2-0 headed into the 3 rd Baker which Niles was able to win giving the Redhawks
their first Baker loss in match play. With that the Redhawks rallied back and took back control in
the 4 th Baker game. It came down to the 10 th frame and VanDeMoortel was able to clinch the
win for the team with a spare and a strike 168-156. After 2 single games and 18 Baker games
the Marshall Varsity Boys won the Trojan Baker Invitation Tournament. The boys will be back in
action again this week on Tuesday at Hastings and Thursday at Marshall Lanes against Parma
both conference matches. Great job Redhawks.
