Marshall Girls win Trojan Invitational
Posted on 02/11/2025

One week ago, the Marshall Boys won the Trojan Invitational at Strike Zone in Bronson. The boys challenged the girls to do the same this week. Well, the ladies met that challenge.

In the first of two singles games, the Redhawks came out sizzling with an 820 led by Summer Stone with a 187, Ember Boughton was right behind her with a 184 and Olivia Stone pitched a 162. Game two of singles found a tough pair of lanes and a grind to 698. Ember Boughton was steady with a 188 while Olivia Stone had a 155. Ember's two game total was good for third in the individual portion.

The format for the day called for eight baker games before cutting to the final four for match play (best 3 of 5 baker). The Redhawks averaged 160.5 during baker play with games of 200, 150, 188, 107, 160, 167, 159, 151. The total for qualifying was 2789 with the second qualifier, Adrian Madison,  54 pins behind the Redhawks.

In match play versus Coldwater, the Redhawks jumped ahead right away winning the first two games with scores of 167 and 158 to Coldwater's 91 and 150. The next two were a struggle and Coldwater took advantage, winning, 156-120 and 160-140 before Marshall took the rubber game, 198-150.

In the finals, Marshall faced the two seed, Adrian Madison. This was a tale of two lanes as the team bowling on the left lane won all five games. Fortunately, Marshall was on the left lane for three of those games. In five games, the Redhawks turned in scores of 215, 125, 190, 152, 169. Madison's scores were 138, 151, 133, 153, 135. While, at times it was an up and down day, the team was able to grind through the day to meet the challenge.

A new challenge awaits on Monday and Tuesday as the Redhawks wrap the conference schedule on the road versus Western and home against Jackson NW.
