Marshall was looking to improve upon their impressive 17-0 season, and looking to power through this I8 conference opponent.

From the start this game was a battle between both teams, Marshall started a little flat and weren’t able to take advantage of the scoring opportunities that they were creating, while their defense was still stout the first quarter ended with the Redhawks up 7-4. Marshall was able to pull away a little in the 2^nd quarter to take a 22-13 lead into halftime.  The 3^rd quarter saw the Panthers battle back to cut the Marshall lead to 4 pts. The 4^th quarter was going to be a struggle for both teams to gain an advantage. The Redhawks and Panthers continued to go blow for blow and it became a game of who could use their defense to gain an advantage.  Marshall was able to finish off the Panthers with some key free throws down the stretch and a strong defensive effort for the 38-34 WIN. This was a great game for the young Freshman boys to learn to overcome some adversity and battle together.
