Varsity Girls Basketball Finish Their Season 18-6
Varsity Girls Basketball Finish Their Season 18-6
Posted on 03/10/2025

The varsity girl basketball team competed in the district finals Friday night and lost by a score of 37-63.

“We trailed early and clawed our way back. We got it within 3 on the second quarter and went into half down 7 after a buzzer beater 3. We felt good at halftime and talked about adjustments we wanted to make. Unfortunately, Vicksburg had one of those nights where they couldn’t miss and really pulled away in the second half. We battled some illnesses and other adversity tonight that certainly didn’t help us but at the end of the day, Vicksburg was the better team tonight. We saw a very different Vicksburg team play Wednesday night against Harper Creek and good teams aren’t often going to have two off-games in a row, they certainly were much better tonight we felt.

We are going to certainly miss our four seniors. These girls have all been playing together their whole lives and it’s really hard for this to come to an end on the basketball court for them. Anaya Burghdorf, Sarah Couch, Emily Dingee, and Delaney Lampkin are not only great basketball players, but even better people. I know they will all be successful in wherever life takes them and I’m excited to watch them continue their journey after MHS. We had 7 underclassmen this year and we have a really strong foundation to build on.

As always I’m proud of this group. Proud of their commitment, their resiliency, their fight, their work ethic, their class when faced with adversity, and their character as young people. I know I can speak for all the girls and thank everyone in the community for all of the support this season. 18-6 is a heck of a season and I hope the girls can look back and be proud of all that they accomplished.”
