The Marshall Girls Soccer team took the long bus ride to Edwardsburg this evening to battle the Eddies. On yet another cold, windy day, the Redhawks came away with a well deserved 5-0 victory.
Marshall started the 1st half a little slow, but once they got the offense started it really took off. The scoring began when Tessa Miller and Lola Saber combined nicely to put Ollie Rozell on a breakaway from inside her own half. Rozell couldn't be caught and made the score 1-0. Marshall would get three more goals before halftime. Rozell scored again to make it 2-0. Lillian Moore scored her 1st of the year with Rozell getting an assist to up the lead to 3-0. Anaya Burghdorf added a goal to her account off an assist from Rozell to make the score 4-0 heading into halftime.
In the second half, Marshall continued to pile on the pressure, but was unable to match the four goal output of the first half. Saber and Rozell combined to set up Moore's 2nd of the night (Rozell had a hand in all 5 of Marshall's goals on the evening). That goal upped the scoreline to 5-0 which would be the final.
Some strong defending by the team gave goalkeeper Megan Rehfeldt little to do, but she was ready when called upon and helped the team earn their 2nd shutout of the season.
With the win, Marshall heads into Spring Break with a 2-2-0 record. After Spring Break, Marshall will host Hillsdale for their first home game of the season on Wednesday, 4/9.
