Game 1 Marshall 11, Quincy 0: 

With some beautiful sunshine in the forecast, the Redhawks were excited to get back on the diamond. We felt it was important to get Claire back on the mound early and look to execute with locating and working ahead in the count. She did not disappoint. In 4 innings, she gave up 0 runs on 3 hits and had 5 strikeouts. Marshall had 12 hits in the mercy rule game, with Brooke Carden, Layne Churchill, Addison Carden, and Abby Judy all collecting 2 hits a piece. Churchill add a monster 3 run homer to left center. 

 

Championship Game Marshall 11, Loy Norrix 1:

In the championship game, things didn’t come as easy for the Redhawks. Loy Norrix starter Fredericksen was able to keep the Marshall hitters off balance with off speed through 3 innings and led 1-0. In the third, Marshall took the lead on an RBI triple by Brooke Carden and an RBI ground out from Bella Ryan. From there the Redhawks were able to get to Norrix’s bullpen and continue to add runs. Addison Carden and Claire Kelly had multiple hits for the Redhawks. Layne Churchill was dominant in the circle. Constantly getting ahead with first pitch strikes and working ahead of the hitters was key. 6 innings, 1 run on 2 hits with 11 strikeouts. We have plenty to clean up before a big showdown with Coldwater home on Tuesday but celebrating some huge wins early and some great performances so far.
