Redhawks Softball 4/16

 

Game 1 Marshall 12, Coldwater 2

The Redhawks took the lead in the 1st thanks to a leadoff triple by Brielle Kelly. In the bottom of the 3rd, the flood gates opened thanks to some great execution. Lauren Lewis and Brielle Kelly laid down well placed bunts and Bella Ryan drove a home run to deep right field. Churchill singled, Gwen Beach doubled, Addison Carden singled, Claire Kelly doubled, Alayna Hayes singled and we kept rolling through the lineup. The 9-1 lead would be all we needed. Churchill went all 6 innings and was dominant in the circle. She scattered 6 hits, 1 earned run, and had 4 strikeouts. 

 

Game 2 Marshall 10, Coldwater 4

Marshall got going in the 1st inning again following a walk from Brooke Carden, single from Bella Ryan, then a 3 run homer from Layne Churchill to right. Coldwater pushed 2 runs across in the 2nd but the Redhawks answered with 5, putting the game away. Claire Kelly went the distance in the circle, giving up 7 hits, 2 earned runs, with 3 strikeouts.
