Marshall dominated the ball and territory throughout both halves, but found quality scoring chances a little hard to come by against a Pennfield team determined to get numbers behind the ball.

 

Lillian Moore opened the scoring by taking advantage of a Pennfield turnover in their defensive third and depositing the ball in the net.  Ollie Rozell upped the score to 2-0 with a penalty kick given for a Pennfield Handball in the box.  After Kate Gensch put the ball in the net from a Lola Saber assist, Marshall tool a 3-0 lead into the half.  The goal was Gensch's 1st ever varsity goal.

 

In the 2nd half, Marshall looked a little crisper with their passing and movement.  This allowed them to create some more chances, but they still found goals a little hard to come by given the amount of the ball they saw.  Nyla Whittaker was assisted by Saber and Moore when she made the score 4-0.  Jordyn St. John found the net for her 1st goal of the year after an assist from Alaina Dillon to make the final score 5-0.

 

Megan Rehfeldt went most of the way in goal, but was relieved by Sarah Couch late to split the shutout for Marshall.  It is the teams 6th shutout of the year and their 3rd consecutive shutout.

 

With the win, Marshall moves 7-4-0 on the season and 2-0-0 in I-8 Conference play.

 

Marshall returns to action tomorrow when they travel to Parma to face Jackson Western in an I-8 match-up between two teams that are unbeaten in league play so far this year. Kickoff is schedule for 6:30pm.
