On Monday May 5 Marshall High School Men’s Golf Team travelled to Cedar Creek Golf Course in Battle Creek for an Elite Invitational against 15 teams from around the state hosted by Battle Creek Lakeview.
Marshall came away missing a victory by a very small margin of 2 strokes with Portage Central and Jackson Northwest posting identical scores of 297. The Marshall Men posted a team score of 299, which is the schools lowest score this century.
Xander Goss led all Marshall golfers this day and posted a personal best ever low score, and a 2nd place finish in individual scores with an amazing 2 under par 70. He was bested by only one player, Jake Brafford from Northwest who lead all scorers with a blistering low of 66, a full 6 under par.
Marshall’s amazing team score of 299 was achieved with Clark Erwin carding a 74, good for 7th place overall in a field of 87 golfers. Marshall’s other scorers were Kayden Granger with a 77, good for 13th overall, Karson Moga with a new PR of 78 and a 15th place overall. Rounding out Marshall’s squad just outside scoring were Colten Scherer with another PR of 79 good for 19th place and the fifth Marshall player in top 20. Henry Strand completed Marshall’s team of 6, shooting an 88.
