Redhawks Softball 5/8 

Game 1 Marshall 7, Holt 1

Layne Churchill dominated in the circle for the Redhawks. She scattered just 4 hits, giving up 1 run, and striking out 7. She was able to get Holt out 1,2,3 in order from the 2nd inning through the 6th inning which was huge. Offensively Brooke Carden just continues to be on an absolute tear. She collected 3 more hits, with 2 doubles and an rbi. Gwen Beach, Churchill, and Brielle Kelly also doubled. We put enough pressure on them each inning and found some different ways to score, which was nice to see.

 

Game 2 Marshall 5, Holt 1

Claire Kelly had her best stuff of the season, going the distance and striking out 12!  She shut down every chance Holt had for a big inning by working ahead and using her rise ball, which was very effective. She helped her own cause by going 2-3 at the plate with a rbi. Brooke Carden was at it again going 2-3 with 3 stolen bases and a double. Brooke is hitting .569 on the year, putting up all-state numbers with 13 doubles and 33 rbi. Brielle Kelly was 2-4 with a double, scoring 2 runs. Lauren Lewis chipped in with 2 big hits, extending innings and leading to runs. Our younger players (Lewis, Claire Kelly, Alayna Hayes, and Addison Carden) continue to step up with huge at bats all season. We travel to Muskegon Mona Shores Saturday for a tournament, then head home for Senior Night on Tuesday May 13th. Please come out and support our senior, Emmalie Hirst on Tuesday between games of our doubleheader with Hastings!
