Jack Bidwell Makes History With Two State Championships!
Marshall Tracksters Bring Home 8 All State Medals
The Marshall Redhawk track teams had a stellar day at the State Track championship meet on Saturday at the Hamilton High School stadium. Led by Jack Bidwell's championship runs in the 1600 and 3200 Meter runs, the Redhawks won 8 All State medals in four events.
The first medals were won by the 3200 Meter Relay. The team of Reece Davis, Ty Winchell, Abe McHugh and Jack Bidwell ran the second fastest time in school history (7:52.42) to take third place. Next up was Emily Dingee in the long jump. Emily made the finals with a jump of 16' 10", then increased her PR to 17' 2" to claim the fifth place spot on the podium.
The 1600 Meter Run was next. Jack Bidwell ran with the leaders for three laps and then unleashed a 58.1 last 400 to win the State Championship in 4:14.95. Jack repeated the performance a couple hours later, when he again kicked it home in 58.2 to win the 3200 Meter Run in 9:12.13. Sophomore Abe McHugh earned his second All State medal with his 8th place finish in 9:30.27.
Also competing were Reece Davis in the 800 Meter Run and Zach Hudson in the 300 Meter Hurdles. Reece ran a season best 1:58.59 to take tenth, missing the podium by less than a second. Zach ran a 41.23 to finish 12th in the State.
